Morgan guess the grade

blu62vetteblu62vette Posts: 11,931 ✭✭✭✭✭
Just a common morgan, fairly common grade. In a PCGS rattler holder. Normally when I do these I hope people guess a grade or 2 higher so I can be happy about my purchase. Not here, this one is graded right but has a nice cameo.

If you thinki it is PL or DMPL please mention it.

I'd guess that it's graded MS62DMPL (downgraded for the chatter in the fields), although that being said I think that it's very attractive.

I can't decide between 62dmpl or 63dmpl. Given most of the chatter is in the fields, I go 63dmpl.

I think I should clarify. I'm not "dissing" the coin with my previous comment. I think it's beautiful! And I wish all mine looked that good...

I just meant that I thought the chatter would keep it from going any higher than 63/DMPL.

Throw me in with the rest of these 62 guys. Maybe not quite enough all over frost for DMPL?

what designates a PL and a DMPL grade? I thought it was the depth of the mirror fields...

    Please advice....

One thing to keep in mind is that on a PL/DMPL coin the marks are greatly emphasized by the reflective mirrors. This coin has its marks but none are all that large and distracting.

I'll take a shot @ 63dmpl. While there is an abundance of chatter, most of it appears to be 'ticky-tack' kind of stuff, nothing real deep or distracting. The dmpl designation is justa a WAG based on the angle of image which suggests deep mirrors. Could easily be PL and just imaged at the right angle. Any guesses on PL or DMPL are useless unless the guesser has held the coin in his hands.

    Since you asked ......

Some good guesses here. I think the coin is graded accurately. All the marks are pretty minor, and in hand dont look nearly as bad. The mirrors are much deeper (blacker) than my other 84-O DMPL. In hand you might think 64 but there is just enough chatter to prevent it. Overall a good coin for the price.

Doesn't matter what the grade is, it's still a great looking coin.
