Expert systems to capture tacit expertise.

Has anyone here modeled anything in Exsys Corvid with a numismatic theme? It would seem perfectly practical to capture tacit series specific knowledge, rather than depend on constant rediscovery.
Edited to add - Counterfeit diagnostics would immediately come to mind, and could be published as a web application.

Dont want to give our chinese brethren too in depth a blueprint of how to make them look better.
Some things are better left unsaid/written as the unscrupulous may make us pay for putting "everything" out there.
You're spot on. I understand why some information would provide financial advantage to the holder, but it seems some information dies with each generation. It seems difficult for amateurs to marshal explicit information that is scattered in hundreds of books and articles. If ever there was a hobby that would benefit from a good KM architecture, this is it. JMO

And since you know what it is, shouldn't you have already done something about it?

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
<< <i>I've often thought that it would be interesting to develop a program that could attribute die varieties, but actually doing it myself is way beyond my ability. >>
The problem with die varieties is that there are no two examples that are exactly alike. The die state changes, perhaps minutely but it still changes after every strike.
BTW, advanced computer technology concepts are generally way beyond the comprehension abilities of the average coin dealer. You may as well be talking about UFOs to them as expert systems and advanced fuzzy logic patter recognition algorithms.
Could it be done? YES! Is it practical and marketable? NO!
Please check this now defunct web site for a chuckle: LINKINGTON

I r abuv avg!
My 13 year old wrote that!
On a serious note I did comprehend it, but yes a lot of brick & mortar coin dealers cant do a lot of things on the computer. Most cant navigate Ebay except in the most rudimentary fashion, nor can they use anything more complicated than email. Most are very good at finding xxx stuff for some odd reason! The emails I get in the morning I cant let the kids see!
Anyway the current wholesale dealer to dealer networks are very simple to operate and yet are the limit of what a lot can do. Of course this business is not very tech heavy in most aspects. A cd reference guide for everything would be awesome and I hope to see someone attempt it. They will sell a few copies then watch all of their investment die when its pirated!
Are you working with that product? I can't access their website, times out for me.

<< <i>Corvid is available as demoware, 30 day free trial. It's pretty easy to manipulate, for those who might be curious.

A single developer version costs $12,000+. Do you think I'm hawking it here?
