From the Chet Krause Collection

Stack's upcoming Treasures from the S.S. New York auction includes several coins from the Chet Krause Collection. His significance as a numismatic publisher is well known.

What is your opinion of his significance as a collector?

Would the fact that a coin came from his collection matter to you?

What is your opinion of his significance as a collector?

Chet Krause has built a wide range of collections. Unusually, he's liquidating them relatively quietly through various auction companies over a number of years. It's almost like he doesn't want the full recognition.

But to answer the question, I don't really have an opinion of his "significance as a collector". To have a meaningful opinion, I'd have to know the material reasonably well, and I'd have to know how the collections were built. I don't.

  • I will say it is cool to be able to look in a book and say "I have that coin/note. Yes that exact coin/note"
