Ebay technical advice, any techies in da House?**Update resolved thx pheh!!!

Ok, here's the problem. Ever since I got back from vacation, when searching on Ebay I see no descriptions on any item I look at. Just the prefilled box info, and then the hit counter underneath. This problem is only with my home computer. I did call Ebay about a week ago, and they had me clear cookies etc and the problem went away for only a day or so. Now it's back, and I called again and the guy had me clear all kinds of the same stuff, adjust all kinds of settings and still a no go. I downloaded firefox, same issue. I downloaded IE8, a change from IE7, same thing. I'm out of suggestions short of taking a hammer to the lap top...Any ideas?

A big thanks to Pheh, that was indeed the fix..... image

Can you provide a "screen print" of what you are referring to?

    ALT+PRTSCRN

Copy the clipboard into a paint file and save as a .jpg

Upload the image and post here.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    The name is LEE!

Are you running anti-virus or security software? The most likely explanation is that the software doesn't like something about the way eBay is using iframes or dhtml. I suggest this as the culprit because you say it is affecting you across multiple browsers.

I have some kind of antivirus software from macafee that came with it, but don't know how to make changes to that, I'm a computer dummy. As far as a screen shot, I'm at work, but just take any item, and remove the description and thats what I get...The prefilled box info, the 3 tabs, and directly underneath is the standard hit counter with the standard bid now buttons...

I've noticed that some auctions have a rather large empty spot for no apparent reason lately (have to scroll down a dozen or more times).

depending on the number of items you are looking at maybe its just a ebay glitch

if your looking at thousands of items then probably not but doesnt hurt to mention it that I've noticed a bit of wonkiness at eBay lately too

an item number or an item you are looking at might be helpful and I'll see what it looks like from my end
I'll see your bunny with a pancake on his head and raise you a Siamese cat with a miniature pumpkin on his head.

You wouldn't believe how long it took to get him to sit still for this.

Check out the last post in this topic > ebay & mcafee

Edited to just cut and paste the instructions:

    1. Open McAfee
    2. Click on Internet & Network
    3. Click Configure
    4. Under 'Web Browsing Protection is enabled' click on advanced
    5. Uncheck 'Block Advertisements that appear on Web pages when you browse the Internet.'
    6. Click Apply
    7. Open your browser and try to view an item.

This might be the case, they kept switching to and from the new "view" but now it's staying. It looks like a big blank area in the listings. It also opens slower than before.

They're too busy "improving" what used to work.

I totally agree. It's rare to see a company on top be so eager to tear itself apart.
