I'm on a hunt for a couple of MS 1921 Merc dimes...and need some physical merchandise to examine!

Good luck, and be prepared to pay more than the show up in all the price guides.

There is a MAJOR show coming up in September (9/23-26th) in Philadelphia. This show will eventually rival the Baltimore shows.

Then, in October, there is Coinfest in Stamford, CT (10/9-11th).

I know...I just feel a bit leery buying high-priced stuff essentially sight unseen.

Nice! Ive been waiting for Philly to get some love from the coin collecting community. Its too important a city in numismatics not to have a annual show.

Anyone know who is going to be hosting it? Also, where itll be held this year?

The Philadelphia show if being put on by Whitman -- the same folks who put on the Baltimore shows.

    Here is a link:

Whitman Philadelphia Coin Show -- September 21-26, 2009

There are 2 major auctions: Bowers & Merena, and a Stack's auction.
  • Thanks for the info, and the link Dave.

This will be a fun show I bet.

Baltimore is getting to be a pain to drive to, and the city is just, well, if youve been there you know.

Philly isn't a far drive for my chauffer. Let me check my calendar and see if it fits.

  • I think that Philly will be "Do not miss" show. Right up there with Baltimore. I will have a table.

Hey EXCELLENT...Philly...I know the town and the area around the Convention Center extremely well.

I had no idea they were having a major show in the fall.

And the Philadelphia Museum of Art usually has cool shows in the fall too!

    Cheesesteaks are on me!
  • I think I will have to hit the Philly show. Live in Westchester Cty NY so about 3 hrs. Closer than Balt though. Coinfest I have gone to for 2 yrs and its pretty good too.
  • Decent but not large Baltimore show next weekend I think. Better than the small regionals but not a major. You never know about those shows though. And NO I wont be there nor am I plugging it, I've just had good luck at that show before.
