Latest raw set purchase

While wondering through the back woods of Missouri, I came across an incredible raw set that I thought all '57 lovers could appreciate. It came from an original owner who pulled the cards as a kid. I've attached scans of the stars, and they are average compared to the rest of the set. I pulled over 160 cards to send to PSA, and have my fingers crossed. Enjoy the pics.

    Wow- sweet find!
I don't think you'll need to cross your fingers too much to pop some nice grades on those cards

Can you scan the Brooks RC?

Wow, those are really nice, especially the Mathews. Good luck with your sub!
  • What an incredible find. You've got a real nice Berra (hard to find one that nicely registered) and a sweet Mathews (the majority have a very noticable tilt). Good luck with the sub and thanks for sharing.

  • That Reese photo just pops off the card. Beautiful cards. I love that set and thanks for sharing.

about 5% of the set was mid-grade (VG-EX range), which unfortunately included the B. Robinson and Koufax.

    Very nice cards.

I do have a question: Why do some vintage cards have the rough sides like the Reese, Williams, Mays and Yankees Team Card? Also why does this CUTTING DEFECT? not lower the grade of the card?

I've never been a fan of the rough cuts, but I've seen some get graded 8-9 ranges.

    Just wondering.

I'm looking for a low-quality Brooks RC, how much do you want for it?

Great stuff. I love 57's, the first set I put together (which I've stripped down again and am rebuilding into "Burgundy Grade").

And totally disagree on rough cuts. I absolutely love rough cut cards. Adds to their authenticity and gives them a super cool look IMO.

PSA has decided not to net grade down cards with ruff cuts, it is within their standard.

IMO I'd never allow a card a 9 or 10 grade with such a cut.

    But I'm not PSA.

Like Ron mentioned it shows authenticity.
