IMO, NO WAY that's legit ... if it is, I will pay 10 xs the grading fee to get that grader if they use the same standards! LMAO

That's the way it goes sometimes - I bought this 52T - price was right, but I thought the upper right corner made it a 6 IMO - but still - overall a nice card.

That's a very ugly 7. Looks more like a 5. Judging by the flip, it looks like it was graded around 1995-96.
That ebay seller has a lot of bad looking scans. He sells mostly decent stuff too, but he needs a new scanner. He's costing himself some money. I'm not saying he should enhance his scans either, but put up clearer ones. They look dull.
With a better scan, even this Mantle could look like a 6!
Here's a good comparison of a PSA card of mine from the same "grading" era. Is this a "7" in todays grading? No, maybe a "6" or lower. But I do think it looks better than the Mantle shown here. I've always been happy with the centering if nothing else. BTW, the snow is not as prevalant on the actual card as the snowstorm that the scan shows. Take care. Doug
I am not sure about that flip, you see how it has rounded corners around the white and red border. I do not think that those types of flips were first used by PSA. This is a first generation font based on the zeros I believe. I thought this flip (meaning just the piece of paper without the text) with this style of rounded corners was used in 2nd or 3rd type flips were the text was mis-aligned all time.
Edit: Guess I was wrong, PSA did use this style of flip with this type of font.
It would be nice if PSA would release a "history of flips," in order for us to have to compare against. While it won't prove authenticity, it can help give clues as to the card/grade being legit.

obviously your being sarcastic.... '
but thats just a crock. People knew how to grade and still know how to grade cards. Some folks never had the skills to grade, but most can judge accurately and honestly. I doubt that the majority of the folks on this board need an expert to tell them what grade a card is.
I took a close look at a couple of cards I have with those old flips, and the 7s are noticeably weak. The 8s are at least acceptable. Maybe the standards for a 6 and a 7 were more blurry then?

I guess grading has gotten a lot tougher since back in the day.
That Mantle is an ugly-barker.
An example of "buy the card, not the holder."

Possible, but I'm thinking more likely just a lenient grading job.
But I'm certain there are many Wiwag cards still floating around out there.
