Would you pay top $ for a slabbed coin if the TPG's would banish their Guarantee.

Do you ever think there will be a time when the TPG's give a limited warranty/guarantee on grades. If so, would you pay top dollar for a coin out of warranty if this happened.image

There is currently a limited warranty on the grades at PCGS. What are you trying to ask?

Say a U.S. coin from 1995 that was a MS/PR 70 and one day you found spots on it 14 years later.. I think due to all of these idiots out here dipping, bad storage or whatever, I think it should be a 2/3 year max for coin grades..

Most coins as we know will be the same inside the plastic for many years Jerry. Hence the slab protection, but I see all of these damn AT coins in TPG's holders and they are not legit, most of them.

Then milk spots, a mis nick by a human expert. Problem coins that are not the top grade should be found quick enough to put one treasure/investment away for years. Pretty much what I am asking...image

NGC limits their guarantee on classic copper to ten years from slabbing date. The catch-22 is that only NGC and the original submitter know that date. The rest are left guessing. The policy does seem to have an effect on market values, especially on MS red coins.

  • I would suggest buying the sticker and not the coin if you were truly worried about this. I think that if say PCGS has the slab and CAC puts that little sticker on it then it has to be a non issue. What say you?
