Accidentally bid on coin I don't want at Stacks, now what?

Stacks new website format got me confused. Apparently every lot now has a PCGS number listed in it, including coins which are not slabbed.

I bid on a coin, thinking it was PCGS slabbed, and now see that it's raw.

I do not want the coin. I sent an email to Cynthia LaCarbonara asking that my bid be cancelled. Is this sufficient or should I do more?

    hope someone outbids you
  • Write or call them. Several months ago, while I was away in the Marines, I had asked my wife to place a few bids for me on one of their auctions. Ofcorse, when I came home I found that she had reversed the item numbers on one of the lots and placed the bid. I called Stacks and explained the situation. They allowed me to remove the bid. I have been a customer of theirs for years so that may have been a factor in their decision. Stacks is one of the better auction houses that I have bought from.

It took Stacks a grand total of 8 minutes to reply via email that they will cancel my bid as requested. Can't do much better than that.

Be careful with their new website format though.

one big reason i do not bid on stacks auctions is because of the raw coins..that is sooo 1983.

Call them up and get your bid cancelled!

You'll have to provide specific identification information but other than that, I don't see why the bid cannot be retracted.

Whoops, shoulda read the results of your email.

Oh well, I stand behind my advice!
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    The name is LEE!
