Why no Wakefield?

Had he just pitched before the break? The guy was a 42 year old first time all-star who IMO has always seemed to play the game the right way. I have no love at all for the Sox, but it seems as if Joe Madden could have at least let the guy come in and deal knucklers to a hitter or two at some point...

    According to the articles I have read today, since it was a close game they were saving him for extra innings if needed. I know it sux, but I can see the reasoning behind it.

    Thats kind of what I figured. Personally, I would've liked to see the guy pitch and get his due and have one of the younger guys saved for extra innings...

    Also, neither Mauer nor Martinez have ever caught a knuckleballer.
