Toned Franklin like or not

Will here's a Franklin I'm on the fence about - I love the color and it's fit's my set. I have a feeling it won't be as dark in hand but you never know. What say you all.

Shouldn't be too dark. It's more about the luster on a coin like this. A 49-S can be subdued, but I think the luster might be hiding in this pic, and she could be quite nice.
Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.

I think in the light, the toning will look nice

  • I'll bet its a very pretty crimson red toned coin. Maybe a diffused autumn red.
Pull the trigger!! If its ugly it can always be returned or resold
  • Looks like a nice xample. Don't forget to check for RPM when you get it...

  • Guess I did not state it right ---- I'm looking but have not decided if I want to bid on it yet. I have a feeling it may go high due to the color but will see how it plays out.

    I like it

I had one with similar toning and it was a darker yellow, light brown russet toning

Sure looks "thumbed" on the obverse.

    reverse looks ok

I agree with the others that think the color may be better in hand.

While the toning certainly appears to be original, I must say I'm just not a real big fan of this type of toning. It reminds me too much of what I see in an unwashed coffee cup!

I sure that having the slab in hand would illicit a different response though as some forms of scanning and photography simply does not lend itself to viewing any "rainbow" effects which might exist on this coin or the real beauty in an originally toned piece.

I do not think the coin will be any darker than what is viewed here though since the slab label appears about right.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I think you should hold out for a nicer example. The redish brown toning does nothing for me. The reverse is really looks dark and drab.

I don't like this example at all.

Maybe it's just the picture, but it doesn't do anything for me.

If you are on the fence, it probably doesn't excite you either.

    Wait for a better example.

I actually prefer the reverse, as it appears more lustrous. I might bid on the coin, but I wouldn't stretch for it at all,
since it would probably go on the block as soon as I found one I liked better... JMHO.
