Do you think Ebay has fake used ID's to nail sellers who take money orders or checks?

I'm wary. I get so many questions from buyers that ask me about checks and money orders that it makes me wonder.

Nope; not that I can tell.
BUT, you have every right to "agree" to accept a check/MO, IF
the buyer requests/insists.
The prohibition is against sellers "mentioning" that they will
take paper payments. IF the buyer initiates the chat, the
seller is in the clear and free to do what the buyer wants.

Why? It's their format, it's their rules. And since they own PayPal, it's rather logical.
I would just like it if they would finally roll out the auto-pay at the completion of auctions as they've discussed. Then they can finally address the pitfalls they've created by allowing buyers to have so much transaction leverage.
true, but we all realize that Ebay is a money grubbing whore that screws the good sellers and rewards bad buyers.
Im certain that Storm and others can chime in and discuss how legally Ebay is violating some sort of law/monopoly. They need a good smackdown.

I have spent YEARS looking for smack avenue; I cannot find it.
They have some of the best and most aggressive lawyers in America.
They know how to run one-inch from the chalk line without touching it.
If things go the way they might, they could be in charge of every
regulatory agency in their homestate by 2011. JD's wife already
largely silenced the Feds with her activities in 2008.
The FTC has boxes full of docs, and has done nothing but
discourage private plaintiffs.
The ONLY slight hope I see is that PayPal acts more and more
like a bank each day......... a TOTALLY "unregulated" bank.
The OCC could join - or takeover - a civil action, if they were
convinced it had merit.

The best solution is to just buy/sell elsewhere.

Storm888 mentions here and I agree with him that eBay/Paypal is the "the largest ongoing RICO-enterprise in the history of the world." Too bad it will be a cold day in, h-e-double hockey sticks, before any criminal investigations is initiated.

I've been putting the phrase
'all forms of payment accepted' in my auction text.
Now I don't get all those questions asking if I take checks and money orders - which I do.
