I dislike the "look" of most originally toned Washingtons and Franklins, but the TPGs seem to love it. Two noticeable marks on the lower/rear neck. Reverse strike looks poor in central highpoints (breast feathers nonexistent). Amount of lustre not readily evident in photos.
Thanks for reminding me. Let's see if I can snap off a fresh image.
BTW, it's a very solid 66 that would be 67 caliber if not for that one mark which is as the day it was minted.
I think we've all concluded long ago that it's virually impossible to come to a definitive conclusion regarding grade from a one dimensional image on a computer monitor.

I like the toning too!

Think I'll try again cause I'm not satisfied with the look at all.
It's actually very lustrous and the toning not as flat or as
BOLD as this shot has it seem to be. Darned White slab!
I think I'll try different lighting till I get the most spot on result.
The mark at the base of his bust was caused during the actual
minting process and is NOT Damage. Neither hits, nix or tix!
Type B is right.
Yeah -I have it in hand & DEFINITELY need to try again.
Sorta looks like this ... ~

I hope not.. It does not look like an MS67 coin.

I don't think it is an MS67 either, but this is the look that NGC valued so much and rewarded so highly in the early and mid-'90s.

Now - let's try to take a few new looks.
Back in a flash.
<< <i>How can it be 66 with zero breast feathers? >>
I agree. I have a '58 in a PCGS MS-64 holder that has a crisper strike for sure and yes it's a Type B rev. as well.

Really? That's great.
Resubmit it then and ... let's see it.
Good question. Look at a few, especially 1956 and 1958
and I'm confident you'll notice a trend.
Several years are notorious for being softly struck.
Tough enough to image, especially in the White slab but here are some taken with no flash using clear bulbs.
Best I can do spontaneously.
