Need some help - Bill Walton - Anyone know him? Know of a show coming up?

Some of you may have seen this in my TTM thread but I wanted to start a new topic for those that have not in case you are able to help me. This is a Media Guide from the 1976-77 Portland Trail Blazers season - their only World Championship. I have been working on gathering signatures on this piece for 8-10 months. I have all the starters minus Bill Walton (Maurice Lucas, Dave Twardzik, Bob Gross and Lionel Hollins), 2 reserves (Johnny Davis, Larry Steele) and the HOF coach - Dr. Jack Ramsay. I still plan on it going to Lloyd Neal, but I figured this would be the right time to ask the board for help.

Bill Walton is definitely the key signature on here and he's not a reliable TTM signer. About a year ago I sent a card to him to test for this purpose and never received it back. So my question is this: does anyone out there in PSA-land know him or have a connection that could get this in his hands? If not, is anyone aware of who his show-promoter of choice is? I would REALLY prefer not to pay for his signature, partly because I'm broke, but also because every other guy on it has signed for free and I feel like if he saw it he would happily sign it for free, considering who has already signed. That said, if paying him is my only option, I'll move a few cards to free up cash to do so.

If you can help me, please shoot me a PM. I really appreciate it.

Mike

  • The Blazers broke my heart the year they won the championship. I can remember watching game six with my dad and the 76ers had 3 shots in the last 10 seconds but all three missed so they couldn't take it to a game 7. I actually watched that game again on ESPN Classic this weekend and they had two pretty good shots especially my favorite player of all-time Julius Erving at the free throw line with 10 to go. Good Lord that was a long time ago.

This is possible on a February that starts on Tuesday, Feb 1 during a leap year.

It is also possible on 30 day long months that start on a Monday or Tuesday or 31 day long months that start on a Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday.

Walton does some signings in the L.A. area, and is a willing signer at games he's broadcasting.

You may want to contact T.J. Schwartz - he has become close friends with Walton over the years and could probably ensure your guide gets signed.

I know nothing about Bill Walton other than he had an AWESOME beard in the 70s!!! I mean come on!! Look at that pic on that media guide cover!!!

It's like he sat down one day, looked in the mirror and said, "Hmmm...How can I make myself look even uglier?"

Nick, I just spoke to T.J. He was a nice guy but unable to help me other than to tell me to check the internet. Anyone that sees and upcoming signing, please let me know!
