A link from this board gave my computer viruses and spyware

Several days I clicked on a link to Toolhaus that someone posted. My AVG anti-virus program was overwhelmed by all the junk that link tried to put on my computer. I still don't have the computer completely cleaned.

a few problems with your statement.

if AVG alerted to you that the webpage had issues or adveritsing/etc..
on that webpage had issues.. why would you get infected? the anti-virus
would stop anything it noticed unless you told it to ignore those things.

perhaps you got paranoid and then ran a scan showing stuff that
could have been on your computer for a long time?

as for being completely clean.. you need to tell your anti-virus to do
a anti-virus scan on boot up so it can get at anything it wants to without
    interference from running processes.

also, you should email teletrade and explain what happened and the
link to the page. Especially if you can share the link and we can reproduce it.

good luck. know that i dumped AVG for avast. AVG, while free for home
use, is really slacking off compared to others.

You might find the thread with that link and look at the link. It might have been a link to one of those redirecting sites instead of directly to Toolhaus. Those sites cause all sorts of alarms.

AVG didn't automatically take care of it because the virus vault was full. Screens popped up so quickly that I couldn't hit all the delete buttons. I have AVG set up to run once a day.
