Reagan Dime

Saw someone mention a possible Reagan design. I bought this a while ago and thought I'd post it. Think it would look anything like this? This is same size as a Roosevelt. I'm not certain who made it. it looks Much better in person. I'm no good at pics.

They would NEVER coin something like that. Never in a million years. Look for the next generation of coins to use 3/4 face on portraits, profiles are Old School

The would start from scratch if they ever change the dime, but the fact that Roosevelt was from one party that party would never allow Roosevelt be removed.

I could live with Reagan on the Dime, however, that design is awful!

I believe Reagan requested that he never be depicted on coin and currency.

I dont think it would look like that because if they redesigned the obverse, they'd do the reverse as well.

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

  • This man should not be on a coin. Period.

Im not going into politics or anything, but this putting people that do their job on our coinage is getting just stupid.

All this man did was serve in office. Thats all.

He gets a prez buck. That should be fine enough.

Put Liberty or something back on our coinage.

I agree with everyone else. It is Ugly. I also don't care for prez or real life people on coins either. I would prefer a liberty designs, Eagles, Monuments/buildings, ornate designs ect...

I am sort of tired of dead presidents on coins.

I would rather have a pretty Liberty grace our coins.

Mrs. Reagan put the kibosh on removing FDR from the dime. Notwithstanding what many of those here like to believe, people of the Reagan’s generation looked up to the Roosevelts.

Never gonna happen although i would like to see it. One party will not let it happen. Which brings me to the conclusion that we are stuck with the current prezes on coins forever. Just think of taking any one off the coin that they are on and the whole congress goes nuts. They wouldn't even let us make a permanent change to the nickel's reverse. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson never wanted their portraits on coins either. I am for removing all portraits from the nations coinage and paper money for that matter.

I strongly disagree for several reasons but here is the main one: The presidency is a lot like being a responsible for maintenance at a big facility such as a nuclear sub or a petroleum refinery. If you do your job right, everything will run smoothly and it will appear you have no problems. People will say, "He's not doing anything, cut his budget." But if you do a crappy job, things break, you have to fix them to end the emergency and you get rewarded for riding in on your white horse and saving the day. Nobody seems to figure out that good preventative maintenance would have prevented the emergency before it happened. I've seen this time after time. I'm not surprised that Joe 6-pack is fooled by it but I'm amazed that Managers and VPs don't know which of these guys to reward.

They put Nixon on a stamp, and then some people put the stamp on envelopes sideways, so that when it was canceled with parallel black lines, it looked like he was in jail.

IIRC, my dad has one of these. Im not 100% certain, but I recall this stamp for some reason.

I loved JFK and hated Nixon. The older I get, I am beginning to wonder just how wrong I might have been.

As far as Reagan, he subscribed to the same philosophy as Washington - that Presidents were not to be elevated to appear as kings.

Amazing, simply amazing. Just get rid of these politico's and put art - I do not care if it is liberty or something else beautiful - just no more politically correct crap - US coinage is in the doldrums. These people that approve designs etc have about as much artistic sense as a hog in a wallow. Cheers, RickO

I agree, putting politicians on coins was a terrible numismatic tragedy. Please take them all off and bring back coins with artistic merit.

I suppose some clowns will want to start putting celebrities on next. The Michael Jackson quarter, the OJ Simpson half dollar, the Elvis dollar, the Britney Spears cent, and the Paris Hilton nickel - what has America come to image ?

They put cats on stamps and Isle of Man coins. Take all of the politicians off of coins and replace them with cats, I could live with that.

No more presidents. The depiction of liberty would mean a great new design and the removal of the lettering from the obverse. Much more room for a beautiful goddess. Time to go back to the traditional beauty of U.S. coinage.
