I just received a PCGS slabbed coin from a smokers household. Will that fact eventually hurt my coin

When I opened the package the smell just rolled out. The strength of the smell was amazing....bad!
It got me to wondering if the smoke & or smell will permenate the plastic or coin and eventually show signs of the smoke. What's your take?????

If it makes you feel better, wipe down the outside of the slab with a cloth or something.
It will be fine.
Yes, coins do "turn" in slabs, and nicotine can leave a residue, but I would say the chances of the coin being affected in this case are very slim and not worth worrying about.
I never had any coins go bad on me when I was an indoor smoker.

You can air it out OR place in fabric softener box or anything that smells nice and
in rather short order it should do away with any and all undesirable odors.
It may have an odor now but shouldn't suffer any permanent or long-lasting damage.
Hope this helps.
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

I assume you are talking about the coins right?

I suspect you could find rampant smoking by mint workers in all the buildings up into the early 1960s when US and UK researchers started really publishing their smoking-to-cancer research full steam. People have to try to remember that smoking was generally considered less obnoxious than chewing gum up until the late 60s. And if you let on that it bothered you were either a prissy girl or male that should have been named Mary.
That's harsh, return the coin if you aren't satisfied. Neg happy ebayers are ruining ebay. I don't like the smell of smoke either but that is rediculous.

Definitely an over-reaction. Stop trying to run others' lives. Some of the most intolerant people I've ever met were the ones preaching "tolerance for other people's choices".

I think it was in the 30's or low 40's. People didn't live long enough for smoking to kill them. --Jerry

The statistical cancer rate of coins subjected to smoke is astonishingly high. I'd return it and let the seller know that.
