What is this baseball worth? brooklyn dodgers

I have been collecting cards, not autographs for nearly 40 years..a friend of a friend called and said he has this ball and was wondering the value.I dont think he wants to sell it.His dad worked in a auto dealership in queens and said the ball came from Gil Hodges.I know this is a general question and I am looking for some pass auction results. I have not seen the ball yet, but lets say it is in slightly faded but legiable condition and all of the signatures are legit....the big names are present...robinson, snyder, hodges, and lots of others from 1954 season(no koufax)...this is a wild guess on my part..800 to 2000 dollars. What do you guys think?????
Thanks in advance Scott

  • Condition is always the key. From your description I might tone down the estimate and say $300 -$850.00 Range. Sound like a nice Ball!

Also and this is important some times these balls had clubhouse sigs.

That is someone besides the star signed them.

    Good luck with yours!

I was thinking the same. I don't know anything about Dodgers balls, but clubhouse sigs were especially common in that era, no?

    Sadly yes.

I have a 49 Red Sox ball that my father got as a western union runner and the ball left his hands and went inside the train

only to come out after 20 minutes or so. I have no idea if they are legit. The only one I do know that is legit is the Williams.

The Williams is on the sweet spot in a different ink then all the rest.

Sorry if I derailed your thread.

Get your ball checked before you buy it or try to sell it.

fairly common ball for the 50's .... ave condition $300-$800

    Key players

    #1 Campanella
    #2 J.Robinson
    #3 Hodges
    #4 Lasorda
    #5 Alston

Others.... Snider, Reese, Gilliam, Furillo, Zimmer

PS for Brooklyn.... 1955 sells for far more because of the Koufax and also the rare WS win that year.

Scans would be good if you have them...if the ball has Campy, Robinson and Erskine together it's likely all three of those are clubhouse sigs and devalues the ball greatly.

Here's a pic with the three clubhouse sigs:
