Something doesn't look kosher about it. But I can't really point out what is exactly wrong

Same obverse die (save for the date). Reverse die is similar.
This is one of the coins that is/was appearing in fake slabs on eBay.

Fake was my first thought. When my first thought is "very nice" then I'll be more worried. --Jerry
That IS really scary.
I am not liking the writing I see on the wall, here.
Edit to add: I sort of did wonder a little about some of the lettering on the reverse, before I read the update. But I have to admit the obverse would have fooled me. I have owned only one Bust dollar ever, and it wasn't a Small Eagle coin. I don't go to shows enough to handle many coins like this, so it's not surprising it might fool me. Of course that's the beauty of these forums.
I take it you knew it was a fake, or had some suspicions?
<< <i>It's a lower quality counterfeit that was made alongside the 1796 we have published here:

If that's "lower quality", I would hate to see some of the higher quality fakes. Maybe that's just the thing. You wouldn't see 'em coming, unless you were one of a small handful of folks with specialized knowledge.
It's almost enough to make one paranoid.

Post removed. No need to tell the counterfeiters what they are doing wrong.

I thought it would be a good learning experience for me
and help others here to learn what to look for.
