Congrats! That is a nice XF 1859.

    What makes it a S-3?

    Thanks.

    The repunched date... image
  • The S-3 has wide re-punching visible below the 1, Additional minor re-punching to the south below and inside the lower loop of the 8, also re-puching to the north of the 5 and on top of the upper loop of the 9,
There is also a diagnostic die crack on the reverse at 5’o clock running to the wreath.

  • Atlantic, I have a question, re the 1873, "open", and "closed. 3. I have two, but can't get an image large enough to see the details of the "3". Can you say what is the difference or does anyone have a LARGE image of both?
    Thanks,
    Dick

Even with the closeups and the label telling me it is an RPD, I have no clue what I am looking at, but I like it as a nice looking circulated '59 IHC nonetheless.
