Modern issue Team Sets

I wanted to get everone's opinion on PSA's reluctance to start team sets from many of the more popular modern issues.

Case in point- There is no way in Hades that I would ever attempt to put together a complete registry set for 89 Upper Deck. Too much $ and time involved + players I care nothing about. That being said, its probably the most important (or top 3) BB set of the decade in terms of quality, collectibility, and impact on the hobby. So, I'd love to put together a few registry team sets which seems a much more attainable goal. I've submitted requests to PSA for various team sets in 89 Upper Deck, 90 Leaf, 84 Donruss and a few other "key" sets of the decade with no luck. For some reason, my request for 91 Desert Shield Braves was eventually approved, but I believe its because multiple requests came in and thats the only one so far.

Thoughts?

I agree....I'm sure somewhere on these boards is an explanation of PSA's position on non-Topps or Bowman sets, but I haven't seen one. I have always presumed that they didn't have the manpower or server space to start to open things up to the thousands of other possibilities. And they will always say that you can use the existing functionality to set up your own customized sets...but they wouldn't be listed as part of the registry. I'm with you...let me post my 1984 Fleer Orioles and other non-Topps sets.
