New additions to my Liberty Seated dollar set

I'm currently working on a set of Liberty Seated dollars in the XF/AU grade range. Two coins in my set are in VF grades, the 1859-S and the 1868, and don't really fit in with the rest of the set. I recently upgraded my 1868 with a nice, original example, graded by PCGS, AU-50. In hand, the coin's toning is slightly lighter than the images, with luster present in the recesses of the coin.

Not an upgrade, put a fairly recent acquisition which I haven't shared yet on the forums. The 1872-S Liberty Seated dollar is graded by PCGS, XF-45. The coin has beautiful toning, a good strike, and displays lots of luster for an XF-45. (The scans were lightened to bring out the coin's details).

Seller's images of the same 1872-S (images make the coin look darker than actual coin)

I only own one or two at a time, if any (and just sold my last two except the holey on my vest). All I've had are the common dates, though.
I never met a Seated dollar I didn't like, except the ones Made In China.
That 1872 looks an awful lot like an 1872 I used to own. Mine had no "S" under the eagle, though.
<< <i>Seated dollars sure are fun. >>
I love the series and can't get enough of them. I don't know if I'll ever complete the set, but I'll enjoy the ride!

<< <i>Nice coins but you need to take better pix of them!!

The 1868 is the seller's images - not bad - but doesn't pick up any luster. The 72-S are my scans, which stink. Maybe some day I'll get them all "MarkViewed".

I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
Seated Dollars are also an interest of mine
and I look forward to have them in hand
next month.
Both nice coins and well detailed
with clean surfaces. Nice pick ups.

Mark,
I'll have to check out your registry set and see your newps. I'm curious as to what dates are in your final four....good luck tracking them down.

Dan, no real stoppers, just waiting for the right coin to come up. We recently picked up a 1866 motto (PCGS MS63), 1846 (upgrade PGCS MS-63) and an 1864 in PCGS AU-55. We still need the 1845, 1855, 1863, and 1872.
P.S. If you look at registry sets, look across the street. It's much more complete as several of our coins are in NGC plastic.
<< <i>Wow - nice coins. Seated dollars are truly a manly-man's series to collect, as it is just filled with tough dates and there are so few seated dollars around, period. I had read somewhere that there was estimated to be less than 200 surviving 72S dollars around, from the mintage of 9,000. >>
I'd prolly have the total a little higher for this date, but the number of examples that are problem free are probably about 150. However, there are only two S mintmarked seated dollars (excluding the 70-s...), one each with- and without-motto. This makes the collector base for this date much larger than similar philly coins and it's tough to find a nice one. We have a nice AU-50 coin, and it'll be a challenge to find a pleasing upgrade if we decide to!
