Breaking news--- the new Stack's website is now LIVE

....and it looks to be a beaut.

It is great to see that QDB and the rest of the crew have updated the site and I hear that there are a lot of new and improved features included and coming.

I wonder with the change in the old guard whether they still speak Latin in the office.

What do you think of the site?

Pretty classy looking and easy to navigate if you ask me. I'd give it an "A".

I prefer something that works well to one that looks pretty.

They still have a LOT of new breakage that they need to address.

    It's the usual over-engineered albatross.

Can't see any photos of the reverse. When I went to close a pop-up window, my ad blocker jumped up instead. Too many mouse clicks to get
anywhere. Oh, but it is pretty.

    And slow....

I hate to rain on Longacre's parade, but I agree with Wolf359: The site is SLOOOOOW (even when I am at work with extremely rapid access; at home, with DSL, I expect it will be even slower). The pop up pictures of coins for sale take a long while to pop up and open up. And then it's still more clicks to see the picture at a decent size. The site is much prettier than Heritage's site but I think Heritage's site wins hands down for ease of use.

takes forever to load an auctions archive search and then results load with auction name and no mention of date of the auction. I'm sure that will be fixed

    Pretty much sums it up.

well longacre- I definetly will give them a "much needed improvement"-but I still must agree with the crowd. Slow and WAYYYYYY to many clicks to get where I want. their archive is way to complicated as well. Heritage really is number one on site accesibility and navigation. Why cant others copy the format of heritage? Davidlawrence seems to be the closest but sooooo far away. go figure.
anyway good job stacks and I hope they continue to upgrade (especially with all the rumors and changes going on there....)
may the fonz be with you...always...

Had no problems with speed or ease of usability. Overall, enjoyed my visit. Of course, my internet connection is, shall we say: of this century imageimage

I agree that it is really classy now with its shiny new background. I will sort of miss the seersucker background that came up while waiting for text.

There's no longer a Stack at Stack's. Was this the plan from the get go?
  • zeebobzeebob Posts: 2,825
It seems a nice site. All the US coins "for sale" are CACed. I guess Stacks CACs. Pretty nice stuff. There's an 1864 BZ 1C in MS64 RD (PCGS CAC) for only $450 -Frosty Orange and everything!
