PCGS question

I sent a package last week with delivery confirmation. It was delivered to PCGS last Wednsday. But PCGS doesnt show receipt of it online till today. That really seems unfair when you pay for a level of service and the clock doesnt start until 6 days after they recieve it and get around to opening your package.

Is this standard?

Please refer all PCGS questions to the CAC forum... image

Seriously, I think it is somewhat standard. Submitting coins to TPGs is not an exercise for the impatient.

Edit: It didn't help that your package arrived just prior to a 4 day weekend (for PCGS). Bad timing.

PCGS recieves a lot of packages daily and there is an unpublished order of heirarchy of which packages get opened and processed first. If you are sending them a package that includes faster service submission orders you should mark that information on the outside of your parcel.

What day did they receive it?

Dont forget they were close Fri through Mon for the holiday so you shouldnt be counting those days.

  • I wrote "Regular" on the package. They arrived Wednsday morning of last week. Logged in today.

It just seems a little unfair to purchase a 15 day turnaround that really doesnt start the day they get it.

until the time they log it in.

    From the PCGS website:

    Current Approximate Turnaround Times
Regular Service - 18 business days
Economy Service - 35 business days
Modern Service - 25 business days

There's not much you can do about. In my experience,
they usually end up getting the job done in a very reasonable
amount of time as compared to their estimates.

I agree with the OP 100%, it is pretty darn crappy.... and yes, it does seem to be there SOP. However, their grading times are still below their published times per my experience, and at least since last fall or so. Much better than NGC believe me ...... I've waited mths for a submission with them.
