Oldest I've found, in less then 50 rolls (hey, I am still new!) was a 38 Jefferson.

If your talking 40 years ago, I would say a few Indians, all were rough. Probably every P mint except for the 14 and 15. A lot of S and D mints from 1917 – 1919. But hardly any Mint narks after 1920.. One coin still in my collection, an AG 1924 D.

Dateless buffs. The oldest dated coin was, for me too, a '38 Jefferson.

1892 Columbian Half? 1844 Brit half-farthing? Way cool!

Maybe a Wheatie from the 'teens. I forget. I got a 1920 Buffalo nickel once.

    That's in bank rolls.

From circulation, my oldest is a 1909 Lincoln cent (no VDB... or S, alas). Pretty low grade. AG or even Fair.

  • I found a circulated 1913 Type 1 Buffalo Nickel in a roll once. Another time I found a nearly perfect 1941 Jefferson nickel with full steps in a roll (probably graded MS-67/68 FS). Also got a 1916 & 1917 Walking Liberty Half $ from the bank when I was requesting half dollars.

The day before I left Sidney, Ohio in 1978 to move to Colorado Springs, I bought a roll of Ike dollars to spend along the way. Found an 1887-O dollar with a hole in it. Wore it on my keychain for years as a memento.

Then there was that time my wife and I were on our honeymoon in Rome, and I "borrowed" a stone from the Coliseum as a souvenir. Under it I found a roll of Nero Denarii wrapped by Brinkus Maximus.......
