High Grade Crossover Experiences BGS-to-PSA

I've never taken advantage of the PSA crossover service, but really want to... so I guess I'm looking for some shared stories and experienced advice!
What type of luck have people had trying to crossover modern cards graded BGS 9.5 to PSA 10?
On one hand, I ask myself why even bother when in the marketplace BGS 9.5 and PSA 10 are virtually identical... they're both GEM MINT... why mess with it? In my case, I collect PSA graded cards and participate in building PSA Set Registry collections. On a number of occassions now, I find it extremely difficult to find the card I want as a PSA 10... but I come across the opportunity to purchase that card as a BGS 9.5.
I'm very particular and only buy BGS 9.5 that have only subgrades of 9.5 and 10.... with the intention in mind to hopefully crossover to PSA 10!
From what I've read on these forums, I see the most advice being to "always crack and submit." However, in this type of circumstance, I don't want to crack perfectly good BGS 9.5 cards only to not get them back as PSA 10's and then have to hope I could send them back to BGS and pray they get a 9.5 again!!!
What have your experiences been in trying to crossover BGS 9.5 to PSA 10? Is it a safe/decent bet? Is it a waste of time and money?

They cracked out the 144 wohlford, but then chose not to grade it, min grade. Bizarre. I then resubbed it raw and it came back a 9. Go figure.
