"great raw card sellers on EBay" thread

I don't buy raw cards on the Bay very often anymore, and it is largely because I have been disappointed in the condition so many times. A scan- even a good one- can only tell you so much. Many sellers fail to mention flaws that can't be seen in the scan (but are obvious when you have the card in hand), and many sellers just flat-out lie about the condition.

The general rule as a buyer seems to be that you should bid as if the card were one grade lower than the seller is advertising....... but there are some exceptions to that rule. The last time you opened up that bubble mailer and thought "I agree completely with the seller's grading"- or even "wow- these are MUCH nicer than I was expecting!!", who was the seller?

Two sellers I have bought from this year that fit this description: initialbay, ginagain

Who has impressed you recently??

'Sir, I realize it's been difficult for you to sleep at night without your EX/MT 1977 Topps Tom Seaver, but I swear to you that you'll get it safe and sound.'

GinAgain is pretty accurate - I agree. Galestown is usually spot on too.

Yea I don't think people want to advertise where they can get decent raw.

I agree that people do not want to invite competition over rarely found quality raw cards found on eBay. However the OP may find some useful information by using the search function as this topic or related topics do seem to come up once in awhile.

I have actually picked up some pretty sweat deals buying raw and then submitting them. I also enjoy the process of buying raw and then subbing them myself. It is however difficult to know for sure if a card will be in gradable condition just from a scan. I do think that buying raw vintage is a lot more difficult to spot then modern cards (1980-present).
