Louisville Slugger Museum..anyone ever been there? Updated with final photos.

I am going to the Louisville Slugger Museum tomorrow with my wife and 8 year old son. Has anyone here been and, if so, what did you think? Looks pretty interesting on the website.

It's sort of two tours in one...the bat-making factory (although they may not be working on a holiday weekend) and the museum itself. The museum isn't large, but they do have some new exhibits this year. If you're in the area it's certainly worth the visit.

    Hi Robert,

I took my sons there a few years back and we had a great time. The Bat Factory tour was amazing! The souvenir shop was a must.

Be sure to take a few pics of yourselves standing by the gigantic bat outside!

All in all, it was a very memorable and fun trip.

Hope you and your family enjoy it!

Ive done the Louisville Slugger Museum a couple times, Picked up personalized bats for my sons, which was cool. Its really neat to see all the different name plates on the wall from all the bats that Louisville Slugger has created. Definately a good time.

Went there about 6 years ago. Was well worth it IMO. Had some nice historical bats on display.

They have one Hall of Fame section for broadcasters with replays of some of their most famous calls.

Also an enclosed batting cage area where you can select the pitcher of your choice from among others Clemmons and Ryan. The machine is the calibrated to "pitch" the ball at their top speed. You can stand to the side of the batters box or behind the catcher, outside the screen and watch the incoming misiles. After doing that, I knew I would never have had the courage to even stand near the plate with any of them pitching, let alone trying to hit something I could barely see.

I agree the bat tour is very worthwhile

Here are some photos from today:

This is for our friend Goot. A pair of WS bats from his beloved Rays:

Next, a small part of a huge wall showing the signature of every player that has signed a contract with H&B since 1901. My favorite part of the museum:
    image

Finally, a statue of the greatest hitter of all-time, Ted Williams:

Highlights included my boy holding a Mickey Mantle gamer from 1961(!), the bat tour where we saw bats ready to ship out for Evan Longoria and Aaron Miles among others and lots of cool memorabilia. I will post some more pix later if there is any interest. A great way to spend an afternoon.

Next, a jersey worn by Honus Wagner when he coached for the Pirates:

What strikes me is that player signatures were legible and easy to read back then. When did the trend start where they now look like simple chicken scratch? Great photos Robert, thanks!
