Question for the Jefferson Nickel folks...

Has anybody figured out the value for the extra serif 1938 proof Jefferson Nickels yet?

Like... for example... what if there was an unattributed 1938, ATS graded PF67 for sale...

Just wondering if there's been anything published out there I can't see/find/get from the sandbox.

    I do not own one with the extra serif (note: had it not been for the many with out the serif vs. the few with the lower serif, it would have been called “1938 Proof with Missing Serif”) nor have I seen any graded that denote the variety. I think it is yet to early to define the parameters.

    Ever since I published the different varieties of retooled 1938 Proof nickel dies, I have received pictures from Bill Fivaz of one new variety, and then nothing else concerning them.

    I suspect that since there are so many different re-engraved dies for this year nobody cares much. The non-re-engraved die may be the rare one, if it exists.

    I have not heard of anybody asking a premium on these.

    No Premium.

    When that was discovered I had 3-4 in inventory and the majority were the extra serif.

    If you find a buyer willing to pay a premium, please let me know.
