Well Session 1 is over.. and it has been an amazing ride. If there was one thing I learned in Advanced Grading its "Look carefully at the coin BEFORE you buy it!" It has already helped me when making purchases today the Colorado Springs Coin show being held this weekend. Even if a slab may say 64 or 65 be careful and examine the coin. There can be rub, hairlines, and all other sorts of things which would prevent an upgrade, a PQ standard, or even the SAME grade if resubmitted. Our closing gala was the best we ever had here. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of Daniel "Tiny" Cross we were able to raise another 3400 dollars for the YN scholarship fund when he agreed to shave his beard for at least 1400! I also won at the YN auction on Wednesday the impressions for the 1876CC 20 cent piece struck from the original dies at the Carson City Mint. (Struck in lead and aluminum) I am gathering a certificate of authenticity from the CC mint and sending them to NGC when i can to be slabbed...a terrific show and tell piece.
I had a GREAT time ion Session 1 and hope to even beat the excitement in Session 2. My only hope is that others here realize how enjoyable this is..you are literally in a "Coin World" and there is no other place like it.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
<< <i>Heading there for round two myself....a first timer............can't wait. Thank you for the reports...........MJ >>

<< <i>I will only be there for three days. I'm taking the Larry Shepherd commems class and the John Albanese grading/CAC class. As you might have guessed commems is one of my main collecting disciplines. Larry and Gregg Bingham are my collecting mentors and frankly I don't want to say anything that will embarrass them
Sounds like a great lineup. You certainly will learn a lot!

Your YN coin givaway was a big hit!
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
John was basically going over his vision for CAC. The discussions were very informative to all who attended. We all got silver coins to wear down to AU-58 and a companion set of BU silver to compare them with - an AU-58 education, you might say.
Posted from the Seminar - just let out my class, now off to more fun!
