I received a call stating that the 1964 Peace Dollars were made from Gort. Does anybody have one?image

And I would have thought that they were made from silver. Who knew?

I have this sac with a draw string, with two peace dollars neatly tucked inside...can that be good?

I thought this was going to be a Star Wars thread, as those were names of Jabba's henchmen...

    I'm so confused...

I can be walking out the door to go on a trip, but if it's on
I'll sit down and watch it for the 53rd time. I don't know
why. Perhaps it brings back my memories as a kid when
I first saw it in the movies.

I think the 1964 Peace dollars were minted after Gort had left.

I appreciate the classic sci-fi reference, but what the he!! does it have to do with 1964 Peace dollars?
  • WoodenJeffersonWoodenJefferson Posts: 6,491 ✭✭✭✭
Just as the military encased Gort into a block of KL 93 in 1955, we now encase Peace Dollars into acrylics.

Goodnite Vienna! (anyone know what that alludes to?)
  • Ringo Starr's 4th album. On the front cover he is standing next to Gort.

One of the most recognizable lines in film history in a movie that was so far ahead of it's time.

Thankfully Gort went on to have children before being recycled.

As someone who remembers 9600 baud dialup service, I wonder how many days your little slide show would have taken to run way back then??????

The Langbord's were going to submit 10 1964 Peace Dollars to the Mint for verification, but they changed their minds.

  • I had a 110 baud modem running a Z80 homebuilt. I only knew one other person with a modem
so rather limited use. We ran a DOS from the navy Monterrey Lab, but I can't remember its name
Digital research eventually commercialized it. God, I am glad the good old days are gone! ( computer wise)
