Before you get them, have PSA look at them.

Do an auction on ebay. Get a quick opinion, then cancel the auction.

Problem solved. Don't get a high end autograph uncertified.

    Be smart and safe.

The guy wants to trade for an item I have on ebay. He has perfect feedback on ebay and says the autos are from his grandfather. He doesn't deal in cards but when I asked the value of the autos and how he wanted to trade, he valued the Cobb at 1000-1200, Gehrig 3500-4000, Young 3000-3500, and Foxx 5500-6000 (says because it is on a gold half of fame plaque?) Also, the Young is on the back of a similar hall of fame plaque card but it is black and white.

    Hi Tommy,

Dave (Yankees001) has the right idea!

It's the fastest, easiest and cheapest way!

You just can't go by the perfect feedback score and a grandfather story; they're plentiful on eBay!

so I would ask the guy to set up auctions on ebay so I could do quick opinions?

If he's serious about selling or trading, I'd think he would gladly agree to such.

Guessing all are fake. Is he offering to trade overwhelmingly in your favor also?

I stick at looking at autos since there is so much room for variations in one's sig.

I agree with those that think they should be seen by PSA/DNA.

The problem is that it will cost ya some real coin to have all those certified in person.

    Hope this goes well.

no, in fact he asked if I would take the Cobb straight up. The item I have is pretty high end, but only around $1000-$1500.

I would deffinetly have PSA do a quick opinion. For the few $ it costs I think it would be foolish not to.

I sent him a reply asking if he had any authentication for these.
  • The Gerhig looks ok but the Cobb doesnt have the little slash in the underling extention and the Foxx looks down right terrible. If you want you can
always go to REA auction and check the sigs against what they have sold.

The Gehrig is possibly signed by his wife.

The Cobb is questionable, I would not want it in my collection.

The Young is very close, but I'd have to compare scans with good ones I have, no time right now.

The Foxx is unquestionably fake. Even if it was good no reputable authenticator would pass it. Foxx signed plaques are EXTREMELY rare.

A guy with the initials of RD was a big time HOF autograph forger in the late 1970s. Some of this looks like his "work".

I doubt any of these would pass PSA authentication.

Tommy ask yourself this, if they were yours and you wanted to trade/sell them
    wouldn't you have them authenticated?

By doing that the value increases.

    Good for you.

yeah, no doubt I would have them authenticated, but initially he offered a trade and I assume that there ARE people out there that inherit stuff like this from their families that have no clue about it. I find this unlikely now that he has replied to my asking what kind of trade he was looking for and to his assigned values of the signatures.

Even if they are legit, I don't see any advantage to trading for them.

I see nothing good coming from any trade for these items.
