$67.88 for a 1909-S Lincoln cent REPLICA?

A Chinese replica--clearly advertised as such--and yet it's going for moon money!?

Why would somebody bid this high, when you could buy the real thing for just a few more dollars? I don't get it!

    Maybe the state of California is the bidder and they are going to pay with an IOU
  • thats BS .25 C

  • What's also funny is the last person who won a fake 1909-S from him left the following POSITIVE feedback;

    received an empty envelope only. Will never buy overseas again. F---

    Also, the current high bidder is the person who won a fake 1867 IHC from this seller for 99 cents.

    I am going to have to assume that he received a relatively high quality counterfeit WITHOUT the word "COPY" stamped on it (and is therefore expecting the same with the counterfeit 1909-S).

    seems like the buyer has probably confirmed with the seller that his winnings will not have the word "copy" on them. $60-70 is pretty cheap when you can flip it as real for $250 or so... don't buy raw coin ANYWHERE, not just eBay, unless you know who you're dealing with.

    ...yeah that coin will show up here, from somebody with three posts, asking if it is real.

  • Maybe there is just some extreme shill-bidding going on? Drastically over shill bidding to play to the "mob" mentality while looking at previous auctions. ie "Look, the last buyer purchased the coin for $70, and the seller has another one up for sale!! If I bid and win it for $40, then I'm getting a GREAT DEAL!!"

    Either that, or the last bidder was drunk as a skunk while bidding and didn't notice the word "COPY" on the coin.

    I really have no idea. I'm just trying to come up with possible scenarios.
    All coins kept in safety deposit box.
