When you stop collecting a series for whatever reason.....

Does your eye ever wander back to it when you see really nice examples? I have given up on so many over the years, but I always pause when I see a nice (Fill in the blank) that I don't collect anymore. How bout you?

I've been on Morgans since 2003 and am not about to stop & smell the roses just yet... not with 11 left to go & time on my side...

...my budget on the other hand, is not on my side.

    Never has been.

    May never be.

    But I'm not stopping yet...

Yes. Just recently I bought a coin in a series I used to collect...even after swearing I would stay focused and even telling others to stay focused on their chosen series! imageimage

Ive found I take one quick glance at the coin to make sure its the right one as I wrap it up and plop it in the express mail envelope.

In the early 1980's I was into Liberty Nickels. I never did complete the set, but I did have a real nice VF-XF 1885 that I got at the local B&M for 300 bucks. Sure wish I had it now image

I don't ever stop collecting a series. I just take breaks. Sometimes very long breaks. So, yes, my eye often wanders back to series that have remained dormant.

Yes. That's why I don't sell off a collection when I temporarily lose interest in it. I know it will return in the future and I'd kick myself trying to replace some of the coins I'd sell.

Amen Brother! I recently started a Shield Nickel collection and while doing so I got back into my oft-neglected Liberty Nickel collection and just recently completed it!

I'm now working on my Silver $ collections, upgrading to BU. This is getting somewhat expensive. But just starting a new series has me now looking at long-neglected series too.

I collected Lincoln wheaties and accumulated a pretty nice set a while back. Angel Dee treated me great, and I got to know some real gentlemen and masters in the series, to my eternal pleasure and benefit. The rare atmosphere ultimately got to me, though, and I sold the set.

I dabble in Lincoln varieties here and there, but figure trying to amass the whole series again is just too expensive.

I have a warm spot in my heart for those guys, though, and still like to look at them when someone puts a nice one up here. Once you have an eye for a series, you keep it.
