Road trip for 3rd of Lincoln 1¢ release!

Thankfully I have a friend at work that is crazy about coins and collecting as I am. Well on Aug 13 we are making a road trip to see the release of the 3rd Lincoln penny, in Springfield, IL. We have got to see what all the festivities and hoopla is all about. The reviews all the 1st 2 releases were pretty cool, so we decided to make the 11 hour road trip from Texas to Illinois. We were able to get the Log Cabin & Formative pennies no sweat, so getting them early is not a big deal. It was either Springfield or D.C., and I don't care too much for that place. So is anyone else here in the U going to this event August 13th?

I must say your a trooper for willing to make the 11 hour trip though! You should just fly then pay for your plane tickets with the amount of money you'll make flipping the rolls when you get 'em

I live within walking distance of the old state capitol building pictured on the 3rd cent. I don't know any details about the festivities, but would like to attend.

Remember to take your laptop, loupe and camera along. As soon as you get the coins in hand...open them up and search diligently for any and all errors. List them on ebay as soon as possible, maybe while still in the parking lot, and post images and info on this forum.

...just kidding, have a good trip and remember to be kind to the Yankees up here.
