Definitely watch your pocket change, folks.

I just replaced the 1968-D quarter in my album with a much better one from change I rec'd tonite, It had been a long time since I'd seen a 1968-D in change. I have gotten 2 of them in the last month. I have also replaced 4 or 5 dimes as well. One was a 1965 that is mint state.

People in SE Mich, Ohio and Western PA pay special attention for 1982 no mintmark dimes, IMHO.

    Right now I'm going through four boxes of cents from Ohio. A little over halfway through and have added a 1943 Canada Cent and 1949-S and 1910 Lincoln Cents to my circulation collections. In my opinion, these are some good finds- especially the 1949-S- but otherwise haven't noticed any unusual trends.

    I wish I would have picked up boxes of nickels and dimes...

    I found a 1939 Nickel in a very nice VG-10 this past Tuesday.

    You mean to tell me that this coin has been circulating for 70 years!!!
    I find that hard to believe.

    A neighbor had a bunch of coins for me to evaluate. Lot's of common silver. Also some rolls of lightly circulated late 60s and early 70s quarters.

    I told him while they are a little old, and nice AU shape, they really have no value beyond face. He said there is a pepsi machine at work he frequencts at $1.50 a "pop". There they will go!

    That's what happens :

    1) In a bad economy;

    2) When the large collector base from the 1950's through 1964 gets old and dies, leaving unknowledgable children to rid themselves of Dad's possessions.

    Keep looking! 20 years ago, some clerk handed me change and I had an 1876 Indian Head Cent!! AG condition, but wow!

    Be sure to check that '68-D quarter for the very nice doubled die reverse (1-R-I.) The spread is easily visible on all the peripheral lettering. If it is and it's an early die state and if you want to sell let me know. I have an AU example but it's a late die state coin.

    I had never looked at quarters. Never, ever.

    Last year....just for the heck of it, put my reading glasses on and looked over a few that I had in my spare change tin.

    And, one of them was a 1983 P with a bright copper edge. Super clean, almost nick free coin...what are the odds of THAT???

    I found a 1972 proof quarter a few months ago. It really stood out from the pile with its mirror like fields and strong strike. I found it when I was doing some roll searching and some local company had their name stamped on the coin wrapper.

    That's a '72 - D quarter isn't it? If that's the one you found, it's not a proof.
