    Ridiculous.

Two things serve to push the price into the stratosphere:

The word "Linhof". Search that website for that name and you'll see other Very Expensive bits.

It's a special order item. Those are hardly ever at a good price.

It does not look like it is a substantial design, either. I've seen better.

    It says "Linhof" on it.

That model has a 6 foot column, too.

  • I agree with messydesk, your buying the name....................

Maybe part of it is the motorized height adjustment. Of course you have the option of raising/lowering the camera manually too.image

  • Thank you for the advice. Where's the best place to get a copy stand suitable for coin photography?

Here's one for under a $100. The lights are extra, though...

B&H has a bunch of different models and a wide range of prices.

Just bought one yesterday from B&H for $29.95. My photog guru said that this one is all I'll ever need. It's two listings under this one mentioned above.

Here is one for $60, although you have to furnish lights. Works great with 100mm macro.

I bought a Kaiser Repro Kid from B&Hfor less than $300. It has a small footprint 12" X 15" and comes with a light set (no bulbs). I like it.

Besides being sturdy just make sure the post where the camera height is adjusted is long enough for your needs.

Actually, if you read the description, it's only the Linhof III that has the motorized adjustment, not the Linhof II shown on that page.

    That price is crazy stupid.

The one I have, shown in the picture below, has a 2ft by 2ft base and a 4ft column. It cost me all of $50 a few years ago from a local photographer who was clearing out his old equipment in storage. Built somewhere in the 1950s-1970s. Heavy as hell (which is a good thing).

    $4,000 my furry butt...
