  • See if this works.

    Small cents

I figured you must be talking about Lincolns image

I saw a Jefferson start like that but drew no bids. I think the owners might have set too high a starting bid. Let's see if it moves...

What amazes me is that this lot is not photographed, even though the populations indicate this is an extremely rare coin in DCAM.

  • That is buying the holder. No scan for a $20K coin, for shame. I'll scan a $5 coin image No bids for a while either looks like...

Wow, someone got some brass balls at that price with no picture!! Amazing, I guess you can buy the number one slot in the proof series. LOL

More power to him/her, just wish I was selling it image

Don – the coin is listed in the on-line pop report and is the only DCAM in any grade for 1951. I think it has been there for at least 4-5 weeks and I think Mitch mentioned it in a post here on the boards a while back – strange it is not listed in the printed report – perhaps it’s not listed because of a clerical or programming error in not adding the line for 1951 DCAM into the printed report.

Also, I’ll bet that the $20K is a reserve – if we check in the morning, the listing will have disappeared if it doesn’t get a real bid.

If someone were to win it and put it in the registry, with the proposed DCAM bonus it’ll be a 71! But it will only get a weight of 3. Expensive, huh?

Gerry: Isn't it interesting that serious Lincoln proof buyers may actually excercise restraint as a consequence of the weighting system. Had PCGS overweighted this issue, it might have effected the consequences tonight??? We'll see what the outcome is. image Wondercoin.

Just checked the coin. It is still sitting at the $20K mark. More than slightly out of my reach.

I'm sorry. If that is a real bid,I can't see it being a Registry Set Collector. No one in their right mind would bid that much for a coin with no picture. The points gained couldn't justify that kind of money.IMHO

Mitch - that's a great thread to start: "will the weights and bonuses that PCGS is adopting influence what buyers are willing to pay for coins to add to their collections?" I'll do that with all due credit to you.

  • Sure enough, it's disappeared from the list---I guess $20K was wishful thinking on the consigner's part.
