Great series starting tonight!

We'll get to see whether good pitching (the SF Giants staff) can consistently beat good hitting (Albert Pujols). Any guesses as to what Albert will do in his 16 plate appearances this week?

Sidecar to this series: could this also be a competition between the two most famous, most photographed human-made USA structures (not incl. buildings)?

(I'll pick the Golden Gate Bridge over the Gateway Arch)

Sidecar #2: I live in SF; my girlfriend lives in St Louis.

Could be an anxious four days ahead!

Nick

Hoping to see 4 HRs and 9 RBI out of number 5...while batting .385...though I hope any HRs against Lincy are 1 run shots.

What if the good pitching is also on good roids? image

I wasn't suggesting anything either. Just hoping Stantheman or fandango would stop by when their Pujols radar went off.

I'm a Pujols fan but fandango drives me nuts. That being said, I really hope he never tests positive, otherwise my game used jock-strap collection will be totally worthless. image

A-Pu's 2-5 against Lincecum so far. Just a pair of singles, and 2 whiffs.

Lincecum and Cain aren't the only guys that get Giants fans hopeful. Pablo Sandoval's rapidly rising star is hopefully going to shine over SF for years to come. This kid can HIT!

    Heh.

Lincecum took the Cardnals to school tonight, and only need 95 pitches to do it.

    9 innings, 2 hits, 0 walks, 0 runs, 8 strikeouts.

The fans at Busch Stadium were in shock, probably thinking that was a San Francisco hippie dosing it out against their beloved Redbirds tonight.

Yes, yes, that's all fine and dandy, but what news do you bring of Prince Albert?

The Gateway arch Isnt a building?

Then exactly what is it? The Golden Gate is definately a bridge. I always considered the arch a building, since it has no real purpose.

In all fairness, it was about 8 inches from going out. A line shot off the top of the wall.. 1-3 with a double.

A side benefit of reading on these message boards: vocabulary enrichment.

    Bafoon?

What is that: part baboon, part buffoon?

A great almost-homer that was too, but it was only worth 0 runs.

A-Pu will get chances to hit real homers in the next few games. He's 9 for 21 against Johnson, with 3 homers, 4 for 8 against Cain with 1 homer, and 5 for 9 against Zito with 2 homers.

Luckily I didn't. Later on I heard that the clown had to borrow the money just to buy my magazines, and then he got informed by some intelligent hobby vets that the autographs were facsimiles. Although it was never implied or said that the magazines were signed, he just assumed the facsimile signatures on the magazines were really authentic signatures, and he was going to make bank. Talk about bursting Bozo's bubble, and showing him he had a lot to learn.. image

Lincecum was absolutely filthy last night. I don't even know why I started watching. Matt Cain will probably do the same thing Wednesday night. The only chance the Cardinals have in this series is tonight with Carpenter going against Johnson.

I don't think Tim's cut his hair since his rookie year. His bangs go down past his nose when his hat's off.

Instead of looking like a 12 year old like he did in 2007, he looks like a rebelious 14 year old now. image

Pretty nice. A-Pu went long twice, and it didn't matter. I didn't expect to see Carpenter get dinked out of the game like that after 5. 4 RBI singles, a 1 RBI double, and a sac fly.

The Giants are leading a charmed life so far this season.

Now it looks like STL's only shot to win a game this series is Thursday, against Zito. But the way SF's been going, the Giants might win that one 12-11!

Zito getting lit up does't surprise me. Panda going 0-9 in the last 2 games does.
