PSA 9 - better to crack or submit for review?

If you have a 9 with a realistic chance at a 10, is it better to crack and send back in, or send in as a graded review (or whatever the term is)? Just curious what other's experience has been as I just cracked a 9 and got a 10, but wonder if that would have happened had i kept it in the case.

It totally depends on what the card is...I wouldn't ever crack some vintage or condition sensitive low pop 9s...but, in general, you'll get better results if you

Just have a few $50-$75 cards that would be sweet/rare in psa 10 (IE '85 topps Richard Dent). Now if I can just figure a safe way to crack - came really close to damaging the one that got kicked up to a 10 (it was a cheap '85 topps fb common - used it as a guinea pig)
