Has anyone ever filed an insurance claim on lost/stolen cards??

Hello...I recently moved and had misplaced a box that had some valuable baseball cards/vintage programs. I was all prepared to call the police and file a report when I found the box. Anyway, I was just curious if anyone ever had to file an insurance claim on memorabilia and how easy/hard it was to do??

I also had a break in a few years ago and lost about $5000 (book value) on cards - 60's and 70's rookies and stars. Since I did not specifically have my cards insured, the limit on my policy was $2500. In all honesty, that's probably as much as I could have expected to get if I sold all the cards on Ebay.

The claim was simple and being reimbursed was no problem at all. Good luck

My cards werent stolen. I ended up finding the box......but I was all prepared to call the police. Do they give you what you paid for the card, or the value that the card is currently worth??

I believe Charlie Sheen did when the Goudey Sheet was stolen and cut.

You can easily file an insurance claim for cards that were damaged due to storage problems, or cards that were in fact stolen. On storage problems the ins. co. might come to look at the damage. On theft you file a police report on the burglary or robbery. The ins co will want to see police report and information supporting your claim. Filing a claim for cards you misplaced, can't find, or otherwise mysteriously lost will be more difficult. Unless there's a specific event that triggers the need for filing a police report, trying to file one accusing the moving company or cable guy with theft might get a bit messy. Before that you might want to ask a large friend to rough you up a little bit to see if he can jar your memory on where you might have put them.

I had a 59 Koufax,56 Mays and a 57 Frank Robinson stolen in the very early 90s.I had no problem with the insurance backing State Farm
as I had a separate lean on the cards. It became too expensive to keep the insurance payments going as my collection value went sky ward therefore so did the premiums.
