Lucienda (can't recall her exact Ebay moniker) will buy those, crack them open (you can keep the au50), and sell them on Ebay with a disclaimer that she received the coins as a gift from her yet to be born daughter who left them to her grandmother. image

Well, technically "Questionable Authenticity" is different than "Counterfeit."

wouldn't it be something if it WERE a china faker testing the product by throwing them up against the PCGS wall and see what sticks.image

There's nothing to crack. They will come back in flips also known as bodybags.

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

I'm sure something like that is already going on. I wonder if PCGS flags accounts that have multiple submissions with Questionable Authenticity to keep an eye on them? image

How do people submit the non-existent coins, such as 1799-CC Trade Dollars? What item number do they use?

Mmm, so all the coins are fake? image

You know that whoever submitted those coins is not very happy right now. The lone graded coin is worth what $30? He paid $30 to get it slabbed.

If he isnt the counterfeiter, if he just bought this lot from someone, I sure feel sorry for him.

WOW, Someone needs to stop buying raw coins and stick to slabbed coins. Education in this hobby trumps all.

    This submission proves that.

Does PCGS always limit it to "questionable authenticity"?

Or do they have a step beyond that called "Unquestionably Not Authentic"

I thought a fake would be labeled as NOT GENUINE.Maybe these were sent in for a crossover in a 3rd tier TPG and pcgs is not sure of the authenticity while the coins are in the other slabs.Totally a guess.

I think pcgs has replaced not genuine with questionable authenticity.
There are many coins marked as questionable authenticity and none marked not genuine on recent shared orders.

    Maybe a legal move.
