1992 Topps Error's?

I saw this on anothers Photobucket. Does anyone have any information on these?
Are they rare ? Easy?

I don't know if it is rare but it is a cool printing error.

I have a bunch of 94 upper deck like that with no printing on front and wrong backs...
all from the same box a busted.. never seen any before have about 25 or so..

Usually the foil is missing. That's kinda neat. I dont have any info on this card. Wonder if it's a different issue, like a boxed set?

I don't know what happened there, but it doesn't make sense. Had a step in the printing process been skipped, you'd expect a halo or blank area on the card...whatever that is, I think it was intentionally...maybe a printer's proof of some sort.

It's a Topps Gold card withold the gold foil.

Same for me on the Ripken, big fan of his 1992 card. Might be why I own 155 of them Actually I just found a lot of 150 for super cheap once upon a time so picked it up looking to get a few graded.

Yes, if John were able to get a scan of the back, it would have the faint "TOPPS GOLD" watermark.

Good call I didn't think of the gold's. I have not seen any but it will be my quest to find some.

They are in fact 1992 Topps Gold that are missing the gold foil. There is a 1992 Favre Hi # up on ebay right now.

They are also pretty rare. The quality control in 1992 was a huge step above the 1991 set. I rarely see these offered for baseball though the football ones show up from time to time.

I think they are more interesting than simple "foil misstep" cards in that Topps had to create a separate design for the golds (no name/team bar).

1992 Topps Gold blank backs are also very tough to find.

And also worth noting (since I've been working on it for a couple years now) is that the 1992 Topps Gold Winners set has over 60 variations (so far). Many players have different placings of the 'ToppsGold' logo on back as well as different sheet codes. Not simply A* and B* but C* and F* or A* and F*. Really strange stuff. Everytime I think I have a master set figured out I find another variation.

Yup, its a Gold card missing the foil. I have an Al Newman.

I can confirm Ripken's base card is one of the A* F* variations. I don't have his All-Star card but I wouldn't be surprised if that is affected by the Logo shift variation.

I can't recall having ever seen any of the major star players (Ripken, Thomas, Ryan, Ripken etc) with this error. I don't think very many of them are out there. Same with the blank backed 1992 Topps Golds/Winners.
