Strange experience with ebay seller...

I noticed that the pictures on two lots were exactly similar and asked the seller 8 hours before the auction if this was the case. The seller responds back saying WYSIWYG. I said okay and wanted to put in a bid, only to discover that the seller has blocked me! I asked for a clarification from him but did not hear back till now. There was nothing in my original question which he would have considered offensive. Seller in question-- florin888 from Australia.

Sounds like something shady was going on and the seller just blocked you since you would most likely catch-on to it once you received the coin.

I think you're better off being blocked by this guy.

After looking at his only current offering that I might have been interested in, and reading the OP, I have blocked him.

It's always fun to deal with the eccentrics on ebay, isn't it?

how do you block a seller? and when you have blocked them, does it mean that they no longer appear in your ebay searches?
    thanks!

I think he meant that he blocked the ebayer from bidding on his sales.

In advanced searches, you can exclude a seller or list of sellers. I never do it, but if was less of a hassle, I know a few junkmeisters and jerks who I would sure like to block out.

  • I would send him another message thanking him for preventing you from making a huge mistake, and then I would say you have friends that want to be blocked too. Would he be willing to entertain requests from other collectors to be blocked?

BTW, what does "exactly similar" mean? Aren't the two words mutually exclusive like "almost exactly".image
  • Never mind. I took care of it myself by sending the following request.
Would you please block me so that I don't accidentally bid on one of your auctions? Thanks in advance.
There's no smiley face icon in ebay messages though. image

Actually, I've repeatedly requested a "Blocked Seller List" to go along with the "Blocked Buyer List." Dealing with as many sellers as one does over the years, it's hard to remember each and every one that has been craptactular, so it's possible to inadvertently re-purchase from one that you've had bad luck with in the past.

Of course, since that would potentially have a negative impact on eBay's bottom line, it's a feature that will never happen, no matter how it might "enhance the buying experience."
