    How are the Mantle's?
  • Ron-- Beautiful cards as usual. That Manager's Dream is a toughie. I'm interested in the grades you would get when you send them in. '62s seem to be the Burmuda Triangle for PSA grading, you never know if your good cards will come back alive. They are all over the place with the grades, I sent in about 40 '62s during the April special and got some head scratchers back. Except for the McCovey and Wilhelm which have a few touched corners, you should expect nothing less than 8's (and maybe a few 9s) on the others. Simply great cards. Thanks for showing us. Doug
  • You didn't show the Torre Rookie ? Even during the week his assumed 5th in all time wins ...
I will share the one I just won then. (grin)

    Thanks guys.

Corvette, the Mantle #200 is 6ish, and the All Star card is 6-7ish. That's ok with me as it'll help me sell off the rest of the set to recoup some funds. The set roughly was about 1/3 EX-MT, 1/3 NM, and 1/3 better than NM. I'm going to keep the cards I need for my own set and sell off most of the rest.

As far as grading, I'll certainly send some in but as we've seen with Mike's 62 Mays, their grading of 62's is so schizophrenic who knows what they'll do with them. I got decent grades on my last round of 62's but the round before that was not good. A lot of these cards "should" 8 and maybe a 9 or two, but who knows.

May I ask what that set cost you?

I'm gonna guess he paid around 60% of book for that set, or about $5000.

great stuff ,great yaz , is it your scanner ?? some of the cards in the last 2 scans look to be miscut with flares on 1 edge or another.

Very nice. A clear image on Eddie Matthews is somewhat rare - that card is a pd magnet.

The Stigman card makes me chuckle a little. "I wouldn't want to fight a war on drugs. Hard enough going to a photo shoot on drugs."

    Beautiful woodies, Ron. Any greenies?
  • Ron-- Do you know if this is from one of those presentation sets or did this person just open and stash away. They are in unreal condition. Do you dare dream a "10" out of this group of did I just jinx it for you? 9's for sure unless PSA is asleep at the wheel. Thanks again for updating us with great cards.

I don't think there were any good green tints in the set. The lower numbers were generally worse than the semi highs and the highs. When I got into the 450's and up, they were just jaw dropping.

This was part of a collection I bought, and the guy took care of his 62's. No surprise the highs were nicer, they are in almost every year I bought. In a couple weeks I'm going to post scans of the 66's and 67's...........wait til you see those. image (Less star power in those, but they reside in Awesometown as well.)

Oh, and there's no way that PSA will 10 any of these cards, even if one was worthy. It's hard enough to get a '62 in a 9!

Any interest in selling the 1967 set/lot? I've been seeking that one in top condition raw.
