I don't think so! I've never heard that he was any way.
I looked at the team card I have in my set and I can't see him.

    Hi Mike,

I have no idea if Ryan is on the '67 Topps Mets Team Card, but THIS GUY SAYS HE IS.

Ryan is listed on the back of the 1967 Team card, so Id say YES

Cant say I see him on the front, but the pictures are small and I dont know what Ryans uniform # was when called up in 1966.

Ive heard the rumor of Ryan being pictured on the 1967 team card for many years now.

Eve if it is..... Its not a rookie...... just a good quiz Q.

It looks like he wore #34 in his rookie season (1966)

Can't tell you if he is on the card or not but I do know his stats are listed on the back. I sent a copy of this card to his Foundation (last November, hope it is not lost) with a request for him to identify himself if he is in the group.

    Chris...

If you ever get it back please let me know if Ryan says he is in the group and where he is located.

I second that emotion. In some versions of the card, the focus is just right that you can see Nolan's distinct jaw law on that figure as well. I've always assumed that was him.

Sorry, I know this is off topic but is Tom Seaver pictured on this card?

If that guy is Nolan, the guys on either side of him must be pretty big dudes.

It doesnt look like him to me

I figured out how to post the link.

Remember Nolan was not a very big guy in the 1960's.

I think their is a decent chance it is Ryan.

Back in the '80s, I tried like heck to find Ryan in this card. The registration is awful on even the nicest examples. I found two different photos from this 1966 shoot at Shea. Number matching and rookie image comparisons prooved fruitless. Although Ryan's stats are on the back, sadly, he's just not on this card or any of the team pics from that time..

Incidentally, Seaver is absent as well.

Pardon the small, fuzzy image, I'll try to find the lg. original.

Ryan was not on the 67 team, he is listed on the back because he was on the team in 1966.

In 1967 2 players wore jersey #34 Cal Koonce and Jack Lamabe.

I'd think the player pictured is Cal Koonce.

    Hi Steve,

You're right! According to this LINK, Ryan didn't play on ANY team in 1967.

I guess that 15.00 ERA from '66 was enough to keep him out for '67. image

And to further add in 1966 Ryan did wear #34.

Ryan was in the Army for almost all of the 1967 season.

Who, besides Ryan, wore 34 during the '66 season, when the picture was almost assuredly taken?

A team card from back then, especially a low series card, isn't going to show a picture of the current year's team. It's going to show the only picture that was available at the time, one of the 1966 team. The B&W photo from the 1966 photo looks like it has the exact same lineup as the picture used for the 1967 Topps card. The same thing goes with many of the player pictured on their regular cards. Many will be from the previous season.

since Nolan only pitched 2 games in 1966...odds are he was not there for picture day

Gerry Arrigo also wore number 34 during the 1966 season.

FWIW I called the Foundation today and they told me that Nolan had signed the card at a recent signing. I asked if he identified himself on the card and was told that they could not remember if he did or not.

Just a good guess, but considering the popularity of Ryan, I think if he was pictured on that card, it would have been well known by now...but anything's possible.

I can't wait to see the outcome of the signing because I can't help but continue to feel that is indeed Ryan pictured on the card.

When looking at the b&w photo in ladder7's post, it looks to me like the third player from the left on the top row is wearing number 34. Judging from the person to his left who I think is Dallas Green at 6'5", that player looks to be a few inches shorter or around Ryan's height (6' 2"). Perhaps that is Ryan in the top row standing rather than the player seated in the front row. Just a guess.

The player wearing #34 in the the top row 3rd from the left is Gerry Arrigo.

I don't see Nolan Ryan or Tom Seaver in this picture.

But I do see Yogi Berra - 1st row, 5th from the left.

I have obtained a copy of the 1966 Mets team picture photo from which the 1967 team card is taken.

I can say definitively that Nolan Ryan is not pictured on this card.

As mentioned, his name is mentioned on the stats on the back of the card however.

It's a shame he isn't in the image, but the signature looks great on the card. I'm kind of bummed out that he isn't pictured on the card though, I held out hope until the end.

So, what's the turnaround time for items sent to the foundation anyway? I've got a few items I've been debating sending in...
Nolan Ryan & Edgar Martinez are my favorite players...
