Shipping to Canada?

I amsue it's been discussed before. How do you ship to Canada and also be protected from a Paypal chargeback due to item not delivered?? Can you ship with any kind of delivery confirmation??? side note: I bought a Maris card from a Canadian seller and had to ship it back cuz it was a Topps card but advertised as OPC. I never got any kind of delivery conf. or signature and now the seller is claiming that it was never received. Is there anything I can do??

  • You can try calling the Canadian Postal Service with the customs form but I doubt it will help. You need to use Global Express in the future.

Not really; other than to hope the seller is honest and
that the item will eventually show up.

USPS has two service levels to Canada that work well
    with PayPal transactions.

    ONE:

    Global Express Guaranteed®

(GXG) Reliable, date-certain shipping to over 190 countries. See Price Table

    10% Online Discount
1-3 Business Days Money Back Guarantee
    Tracking
    Free Packaging
    Free $100 Insurance
    Carrier Pickup

    TWO:

    Express Mail International®

(EMI) Reliable, expedited service to over 190 countries. Now available with day-certain delivery to select destinations. See Price Table

    8% Online Discount
3-5 Business Days Money Back Guarantee to Select Destinations
    Tracking
    Free Packaging
    Flat Rate Envelope
    Free $100 Insurance
    Carrier Pickup

    ................

FDX can be a problem in Canada. They sometimes use
a private contractor for the final leg of the trip; fees as
high as $35 can be added to the delivery price and the
addressee is told to pay or the item will be returned to
sender. A good way for EBAY sellers to get NEGs.

Express Mail Int'l is cheaper generally and covers the same...at least in my experience.

    Yup.

GXG is a bit faster, but the features are the same and the price is a little higher.

    EMI starts at about $28.

  • Although "rare" it can take up to 30 plus days sometimes for mail to reach it destination(both ways US/CAN ~CAN/US). It's got nothing to do with the Post Office but border customs security in which mail or parcels sometimes get held and/or inspected.

Also i would encourage all sellers NOT to write the recipients address but to copy and paste it ~ avoids problems of misdirection such as L's that look like I's ~~ P's that look like B's etc etc ....

Personally(7+ years & 2000+ transactions) i've never had a problem with USPS INTL 1st class ~ batting 100% cheap and highly effective. DC should only be used when the value of the item warrants it. After all It would be silly to spend $30.00++ on a $20.00 dollar item.

    Wait it out ~

if it's been over 30 days something has definitely gone wrong!!
