Please Help With Coin Identification

Could one of the darkside experts help with two coin identifications? The appear to be Persian or Arabic, and struck in electrum. They are thin. The small coin is 20 mm and 3.5 grams, while the larger diameter piece is 24 mm and 3.4 grams. Both are holed. Thank you in advance for any information you can provide.

The one on the right appears to be Ottoman Egypt. The one on the left is also probably Ottoman, from Syria (because it references Damascus on the bottom side) from the time of Sultan Mehmed bin Murad Han (Mehmed III), who ruled from 1595-1603.

It would help if the photos were properly oriented. The top left image is upside down, and the others should be rotated 90 degrees to the right.

  • Thanks newsman.

I thought that I identified the one on the left. Comparing to other coins, it looked like a gold sultani of the Ottoman Empire (1520-66), Suleyman I........I think. Thanks for your help. I will re-image the coins in the proper orientation.

No problem -- it's definitely Mehmed III's name on the coin, not Suleyman's. I can't read the sultan on the Egypt one, but I'll check again when you post the new images.

Also, I think these are gold rather than electrum.
  • As newsman said the left coin is Mehmed III, Damascus Mint. AH 1003 Sultani. KM#6
I think the right coin is Ahmed III, Misr Mint. AH 1115 Altin. KM#73
