Garage Sale (Autographs?)

I picked up a few Items at a garage sale that had autographs on them. I'm not an autograph collector so I'm not sure if they're authentic. Can I please have opinions on this item and if you think the autographs look real. Sorry if pics are to big or out of focus and thanks ahead of time for any opinions.

Those Nabisco cards, I believe, came autographed from the factory.

I'll double your money and give you $4.00 for them! LOL

    NICE FIND!

great pickup. They look good to me. The Drysdale, by itself, is probably a $50- item.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

I've got these as well (all but the Drysdale). Drysdale passed away before he was able to sign all of his cards so his are fairly hard to find (and thus the high price).

If you were to turn around and sell these on Ebay, you'd get $60 on a bad day. If you pad $2 for the whole thing, you need to go to confessional tomorrow, because that's a steal! image

  • That's OK that you posted twice. But you will need to say,"Enjoys going to garage sales during his leisure time". image
  • Wow, thanks for everyones opinion on the item. Here is the 2nd item I picked up at the same sale, both frames were sitting mixed in with a stack of paintings, pics, etc.

Does the Ryan auto look legit?

That's 100% real on the Ryan poster...I believe that was given out to Coke employees back in the early '90s.

edit to add: It may have been a send away as well.

I wanted to add maybe you should have checked out the paintings, might have been some well known artist's. image

  • Just took a better look at the Nolan Ryan item, its an uncut sheet of cards.
I found the poster online and the cut cards but I haven't found any info on a uncut sheet for that series.

Does anyone have more info on how many of these were made with the uncut sheet of cards with the auto?

Same goes with the Nabisco item, I seen the individual cards on e-bay but I couldn't find online any info on the complete Nabisco display.
How many of these were distributed?

Thanks ahead of time for any info

Looks like the Nabisco display was done at a frame shop or something? I have the Brooks Robinson that I got from Nabisco; definitely don't remember a complete set being offered. No clue how many UPCs and $ it took to get a card.

They are both salesman type promos. The Nolan Ryan Coke/Donruss set was originally in a different frame. The frame was wood and would have had a brass engraved plate at the bottom center of it. It also had a white matte but with the Coke and MLBPA logos in the bottom right corner of the matter. In it's original frame, the logos would have been about half visible and "cut off" so to speak by the exterior frame.

    Those are very nice finds.

Chandy may be able to help on how exactly they were distributed but if I remember right, these would have been used by Nabisco and Coke as 'Thank You' type of gifts from their business to the rep that they dealt with at another business. As opposed to the more common type of promo where the cards would have been sent by the card companies to top selling baseball card dealers or the like.

  • They are all fakes.

I just wanted to be different.

The only Coke/Ryan display I've seen that belonged to the original owner came directly from the home of an ex-Coke employee...former member TheMcGwireMuseum's father owned it.

I picked up a similar signed poster about a year ago at a garage sale signed by some HOF pitchers Spahn, Hunter, Feller I think, and then somehow Jim Bouton got involved and a few others too, maybe Perry/Niekro. It was a poster of a giant hotdog celebrating National Hot Dog Day or something. Still a fun pick-up. Nice Frame. I'm not taking offers on that one a kind priceless hot dog heirloom.
