Mexico, 1714-Mo J Gold Cob 4 Escudos, Ex-Cab. De las Yndias

Virtually as struck, very rare this nice. From perhaps the finest collection of Spanish and Spanish Colonial coins ever formed:

Wish I could add that Beauty to my collection ! Would look nice next to my 1714 Mexico 2 Escudo.

Only problem... I'd have to pawn the Picasso & mortgage the Matisse to pay for it image

Very nice! That actually looks better than a 64. JMHO.

You know what's weird? I agree. I don't know how anyone can tell that a crudely struck, 300-year old coin is MS anything, but I'll be darned if I wouldn't have to give it a 65.

LOL! Well, I am not saying I can grade coins, but It does look mint. The only points which should have been knocked off, perhaps, would be the off-center strike and the weak strike around the edges. -Dan

Wow, I've never seen anything near that quality!! image

I think it's pretty well centered as far as cobs go, too. If I were to grade it, I think I'd give it at least a 65, maybe 66 or 67 (without seeing it in hand).
